What is vojd

Void is by definition an empty space; emptiness.

​JJ says everyone has a void and that they all fill theirs in some way shape or form whether they know it or not. Some do drugs. Some make music. Some like to help people. 

We fill ours with the love of food and cooking.

Started out cooking for a couple of friends just for fun. We have evolved into a reoccurring pop-up hosting private dinners and events in the Bay Area.

What’s happening. I’m JJ. I’m 26 years old and I was born and raised in the Bay Area, California. After I got out of the military, I tried going to college for a few semesters but it just wasn’t mine. I knew I liked food and cooking so I went to go cook and stage around restaurants in the bay. I fell in love with the culture and food of fine dining. I’m happy to be able to express my passion and creativity through my cooking. 

It’s so hard to set and say I have a “style” of cooking. What is modern/contemporary American? What is Californian cuisine? What is American food? As a generalization, I like to tell people that the food style in California, particularly in the Bay Area, is food with European (french) roots and Asian influences; and sometimes influences from other countries. 

I hope I get the pleasure to meet and cook for you.
